Flight tickets arrived

It has been 2 weeks since I last wrote to my blog. The time is flying by so quickly now.
Last year when the offer was made and early this year when the contract arrived (January) it seemed as though we had endless time.
Now we have 6 weeks and 2 days.

The house is on the market and we are hopeful that it will sell quickly. Fingers crossed if you can please.

This week the removals company come back out to do a final check of what is to go and book a date. We are sending the furniture early as it has to be shipped by sea. So we will have an empty house for a while. Sleeping on matresses on the floor. Eating off picnic plates :-)

The weather had been horrible, so I was just going to ship out the summer clothes and keep the winter ones here - oh no- that didn't work!! Now we have lovely weather.

We shall see!

What happened after the interview.

After the interview I dealt with Central Personnel. I knew that some colleges were better than others.
Therefore, I asked around a lot.
I'd already found wonderful people via expatwoman.com and they were a brilliant source of information on all the Emirates.
I asked to be placed with Abu Dhabi Women's College (ADWC) as choice number one.
They got straight back to me and said "Yes" that would be my placement - very very excited.

Now, Abu Dhabi is very high rise (think Manhattan Island, New York). I'm not at all good with heights and started to worry about where we would be allocated to live.

I mentioned it to the personnel officer of ADWC, who put me in touch with the Housing Officer. He had a first floor flat available in a very nice block.

Swimming pool and gym on the roof are included!
The lady who is moving out is called Carolyn. She's moving to Canada.
It's been great having contact with her as we've been able to buy her carpets and curtains.
Rental flats in AD have bare concrete on the floors.

2 months today

We fly out in 2 months' time. Suddenly everything looks very much more serious.

Though we know a lot about what will be expected, we have pictures of the flat and I've been emailing wonderful people in Abu Dhabi, the fear of the unknown, the worry of dragging the family across the world starts to kick in.

We've been tidying up and throwing out. Organising what to take and what to leave. There is endless "Stuff"; so much we have kept just in case. It's been good to be ruthless, very refreshing.

The house goes on the market on Tuesday. It took a lot longer than expected to get that sorted out. We're hoping for a quick sale.
